Zonta International, established in 1919, consists of 1,249 clubs with 32,600 members within 67 countries. The Annapolis Club was the 58th club chartered by Zonta International February 16, 1929. Of the 32 districts throughout the countries, The Zonta Club of Annapolis, is located in District 3, alongside the 38 clubs comprised in Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
Zonta International and its clubs are nonsectarian and nonpartisan.
The Zonta Symbols
ZONTA is derived from the Sioux Indian language and means "Honest and Trustworthy."
The ZONTA emblem is a composite of Indian symbols representing this concept: "Banded Together for a Purpose."
The Yellow Rose is also a ZONTA International emblem, which signifies "Radiance and Beauty."
